Frequently asked questions

Common questions about QR codes in general, and about how ClearQR works specifically.

What is a QR code?

A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that stores text (a URL, contact details, or a message) in a pattern a phone camera can read almost instantly.

How does a QR code work?

The pattern of black and white squares encodes data directly. When a phone camera detects that pattern, it decodes the data and prompts the user to open it: a link, a chat, or a saved contact, depending on the type.

How do I create a QR code with ClearQR?

Pick a type at the top of the generator, fill in your details, adjust the colors or logo if you'd like, and download the result as PNG or SVG. It all happens in your browser.

What's the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

A static QR code, like the ones ClearQR generates, has its destination encoded directly and permanently into the pattern. A dynamic QR code points to a short link on someone else's server, which can be redirected later, but that requires the service to stay online. ClearQR creates static QR codes. The information you enter (a URL, a phone number, contact details) is encoded directly into the QR code's pattern, so the generated code doesn't depend on ClearQR's servers to keep working.

Can I add a logo to my QR code?

Yes. Every QR type supports an optional centered logo. We keep it within a conservative size range to help preserve scanability, and automatically switch to a higher error-correction level. This doesn't guarantee the code will scan in every environment. Always test before printing or publishing.

Can I use these QR codes commercially?

Yes. QR codes generated with ClearQR are yours to use on packaging, signage, business cards, or advertising, free of charge.

Do QR codes expire?

No, not on their own. The destination itself, though, still needs to remain available: if you delete the page a QR code points to, the code will still scan, but visitors will land on a dead link. If you need to change the destination later, create a new QR code; a static code can't be redirected after it's printed.

Can I download my QR code as SVG?

Yes. Every generator supports both PNG (best for digital use and quick printing) and SVG (best for large-format or high-resolution print) downloads.
